Joe Cocker:
"The Sheffield Soul Shouter", Joe Cocker, is one of the most prolific English blues musicians in history. Both on tour dates and on his 22 studio albums, Cocker has built a reputation for his covers that breathe life into some of music's most popular songs. He's also well known for performing the hit song "Up Where We Belong" from the 1982 film, An Officer and a Gentleman. Joe Cocker continues to produce hit albums, including his most recent, Hard Knocks. He also has a number of international tour dates in 2011 that are creating a buzz amongst Cocker's fans.
Joe Cocker received his first big break when his band, Vance Arnold and the Avengers, opened for The Rolling Stones in 1963. Cocker's next successful group was The Grease Band, who rose to fame with their cover of The Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends." The single featured Jimmy Page on guitar and was used as the infamous opening theme to The Wonder Years. The popularity of the single led to acclaimed tour dates at the Denver Pop Festival, Newport Rock Festival, and even Woodstock. Cocker scored a solo hit in 1974 with his cover of "You Are So Beautiful", which has become almost more popular than Billy Preston's original.
Since that time, Joe Cocker's career has continued to flourish, with his recent albums receiving excellent reviews. Cocker is currently in the midst of 2011 tour dates, which are currently in Europe as of mid-July. After visiting nations like Poland, Belgium, and Monaco, Cocker will end his concert schedule on August 19. Catch this iconic musician on the remainder of his European hit tour dates in 2011.
