"Constructing The Well Crafted Scene For Screenplay." CANCELLED
***THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.*** Location: Adrienne Theater, Playground room Address: 2030 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA Time: 12pm - 2:30pm Date: November 17th, 2012 Cost: $55 This class gets into the detailed process of designing your scenes. By using specific tools you will be able to articulate your scene's purpose and showcase character at any moment in your screenplay's narrative. This class and set of tools directly answers the critical questions most writers struggle with after the outlining process of: "What should my characters say or do?" "How should I set up this scene?" Elements of a scene's structure; dialog and descriptive action will be broken downs to show how these tools can determine if your scenes are servicing their intended purpose in the overall narrative thrust. The class will review script scenes from current film and television series. Participants are encourage to bring in their script. Some scripts will be picked by lottery to workshop. All participants will be empowered to construct powerhouse scenes. In addition, suggested books for the outlining process will be given as well. Instructor: TRES MIAH Tres has over ten years of producing experience, writing and directing projects. He has worked with such networks as VH1, Lifetime and Showtime. He is also the recipient of the Creative Excellence award from MTV Networks for a PSA on tolerance. His dramatic work has been shown on PBS nationwide. At VH1 Classic, Tres was one of 10 independent producers chosen by the Vice President to develop original programming. He developed the music documentary series "About the Beat." At Showtime, he developed and produced a dramatic pilot called "The Marriage Counselor" which was later sold and redeveloped as a comedy. As of late, Tres beat out over 300 writers to penned the screen adaptation for the film "Three Days As The Crow Flies" based on the book of the same name written by Danny Simmons. The book annotates the halcyon days of NYC's downtown art, music and fashion scene in the 80's. He will co-executive produce with Russell Simmons.
