Venue Details
The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts opened its doors to the public on December 16, 2001. Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in an area known as the “Avenue of the Arts”, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts features Verizon Hall, Perelman Theater, Dorrance H. Hamilton Roof Garden and various other small performance and meeting spaces. Since opening, the venue has become a firm Philadelphia favorite in terms of where to go to take in the performing arts.
At present, the Kimmel Center is home to no less than eight companies; the Philadelphia Orchestra - one of America’s “Big Five” symphony orchestras, the Philly Pops, PHILADANCO, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, the American Theater Arts for Youth, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, and the Pennsylvania Ballet. With such an impressive array of resident companies, the Kimmel Center's reputation as one of the nation's leading performing arts facilities comes as no surprise.
Additionally, it goes without saying that the Kimmel Center schedule of events is a busy one. As well as the concerts and recitals put on by the venue's current tenants, Broadway musicals, off-Broadway productions, theatre and concerts from a wide variety of genres are also featured regularly on the Kimmel Center schedule.
